All at Border Harriers would like to thank Sam Jackson for all his time and efforts as North of England Track and Field Team Manager, as he takes well-earned retirement from the role. As a fitting tribute his final match in charge was a well-deserved win. We would also like to take this opportunity to welcome Abigail Thompson who is taking the brave step into the role of Team Manager from next season. |
A great weekend for the Club saw it winning for the first time the David Harper-Tarr Trophy for the leading team at the Cumbria AA Track and Field Championships held at the Copeland Stadium, Whitehaven. The team amassed 204 points, with Seaton AC runners up on 184 and Carlisle AC third with 149. Twenty nine gold medals were won with juniors Alfie Lamb, Dale Clark and Timothy Fuggle each taking home three. Annie Bell, Melissa Bills, Abbie Thompson, Damon King, Osinachi Okoro, Ebony Blackwell, Lucy Hetherington won two with Fiona Todd, Ashley Todd, Grace Monkhouse, George Tiffin-Lowe, Adam Varey and Matthew Hetherington gaining one each. Many congratulations to the whole team. On Sunday Mark Emmerson won the SportInAction 10K, starting and finishing in Bitts Park Carlisle in 32mins 28secs. He finished strongly over the second half of the race to have over a minute in hand on David Holmes of Border Reivers 33:38 and Paul Graves 34:49. Fiona Todd chased her younger first lady rival all the way, with just an 8 second gap between them at the finish. Fiona’s 39:33 won her first V40 prize. The evergreen Peter Campbell came back in 51:24; Hayley Millican took fifth lady prize with 51:49. |
